Fashion students and local fashion designers are being called on to submit designs for dresses and outfits to be worn by Miss Bristol International, when she takes part in a prestigious national pageant competition in July.

Gabriella Papp, who has worked as a professional model for Chanel and Calvin Klein, is looking for local designers with a flair for fashion to help create showstopping outfits for her to wear when she competes in the upcoming Power Pageant UK.

Gabriella, who was named Miss Bristol International earlier this year, has the chance to be crowned Miss International, Miss Grand International, Miss Intercontinental or World Supermodel at the Pageant Girl UK competition taking place in Lancashire on 9-10 July.

The 26-year-old from Southmead said: “There are so many talented fashion designers in Bristol and I really love the idea of working with a local designer or designers for my pageant outfits.

“I have contacts in the fashion industry from my time as a model but I think it’s really important to support local talent and I think this could be a really good platform for an aspiring designer, student or independent in the area. (we couldn't agree more! - TBS)

“There are several elements to the competition so I need a variety of outfits to impress the judges. First there is an opening number where I need to wear a silver or gold dress, then there’s a swimsuit category followed by an elegant evening dress round.

“I also need an Afternoon Tea outfit which is red, white or blue and sports clothes for the boot camp round.

“The pageant world is completely new to me but I’m really enjoying my time as Miss Bristol International so far as it has meant I have met loads of new and interesting people.

“I’m hoping this project to find a local designer will help me meet even more great people and also benefit others as well.

“Although I wouldn’t be paying the designer, I believe this is a really great opportunity for people to showcase their work and gain exposure.”
